The Dam Keeper

by Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi. New York, NY: First Second, 2017

Pig is now the damkeeper, a job he inherited from his father. It’s his job to keep Sunshine Valley safe from the deadly fog. The problem is that this responsibility comes at a cost. Luckily he has a friend, Fox. Unfortunately a wave of fog has separated him, Fox, and Hippo (another friend) from their town and families. They have to get back within nine days before the next huge wave of fog returns.

While the characters and illustrations have a 'cute' feel, there are some parts that may frighten younger children. It received starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly.
