Where's Halmani?

by Julie Kim.Seattle, WA. Sasquatch Books, 2017

Inspired by Korean folktales, with a picture glossary of Korean words in the back, this beautifully illustrated picture book drawn in graphic novel style is all about two siblings in search of their grandmother, Halmoni. After Noona and Joon follow tiger tracks they've found in Halmoni's cottage, they pass through a mysterious door and are transported into an Asian landscape where for snacks, mythical animals challenge and/or help the children figure out the mystery of the missing Halmoni.

It won the Cybils Awards and received starred reviews from School Library Journal, Booklist, Kirkus Reviews, and Publishers Weekly.
