Fagin the Jew: A Reinvention of Dickens's Classic Character

Eisner tells the story of Fagin in Dickens’ Oliver Twist from Fagin's perspective. This book was written in response to Eisner's guilt after creating his character, Ebony, a young African-American boy in The Spirit. It is his attempt to raise reader awareness of the harmful effects caricaturing and stereotyping can have on others. This book pairs well with Dickens's Oliver Twist and Eisner's The Spirit.
